The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has started work on a mill and overlay project on State Route 302 in Horn Lake, commonly known as Goodman Road West, using funds collected through the Mississippi state lottery.
The $4.2 million project will overlay the road from east of Horn Lake Road to Interstate Boulevard in Horn Lake. Work will include milling and repaving, signal and signage upgrades.
The contractor plans to begin the signal work and sign replacement this year, however milling and paving will begin in the spring of 2022.
This project was awarded to Lehman Roberts Co., of Memphis.
The Alyce G. Clark Mississippi Lottery Law was enacted in the August 2018 special session. It created the Mississippi Lottery Corporation to oversee the sale of lottery tickets. The law designated the first $80 million of net lottery proceeds annually for state roads and bridges. The Mississippi Transportation Commission designated MDOT’s lottery proceeds for pavement restoration projects.
