Garbage collection resumes after snowfall

The waste collection provider for unincorporated DeSoto County will be running their regular routes this week but will make extra efforts this week to catch up on garbage missed last week due to the snow.

Waste Pro has told DeSoto County it will operate its scheduled garbage/recycle routes according to normal schedules this week.  They are also going to be running extra trucks each day to pick up the garbage and recycle items that were not collected last week.

According to County Director of Environmental Services/Parks and Greenways Ray Laughter, “Waste Pro will continuously coach their guys on getting everything outside the cart. One of the trucks will be a rear load specifically for that purpose.”

Laughter added that Waste Pro is confident their team will get everything taken care of this week. He said that residents who have and questions about service in the unincorporated areas of DeSoto County may contact his office at 662-469-8152.
