Former Gator football players killed in crash

Two men, one identified as a former football player at Lake Cormorant High School and the other, a current junior at Lake Cormorant who played football and had played basketball, were victims of a motor vehicle accident in Tunica County on Sunday.

Information from the Tunica County Sheriff’s Department indicates the accident took place Sunday afternoon, shortly after 1 p.m. and involved two vehicles. The crash occurred near the intersection of state Highway 304 and Kirby Road in Robinsonville.

Killed in the crash were Markivise Judd, age 21 of Robinsonville, and Antwan Moore Jr., age 17, also of Robinsonville.

Another unidentified person was injured in the crash.

“Tunica County Sheriff’s Office mourns the passing of two young men, taken from this life too soon. Our prayers go out to the family and friends of the victims, as the two gentlemen were brothers,” the department news release said.  “The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office.”

Judd was a 2019 graduate of Lake Cormorant and played free safety for the Gators.

Moore was listed as a wide receiver in football for the Gators and had also played basketball as a sophomore.

The Lake Cormorant football program announced the passing of the pair on its Twitter account Monday morning.
