Early morning explosion at future Olive Branch medical site under investigation

OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. — Local authorities are investigating an early morning explosion at a future healthcare facility on Germantown Road.

Members of the Olive Branch Police and Fire Departments responded to reports of a “loud boom” at approximately 12:37 a.m. Tuesday. The incident occurred at 8990 Germantown Road, the future site of Southern VIP Pain Management.

The facility is currently under construction and has not yet opened to the public. Officials confirmed there were no injuries reported at the scene.

According to preliminary findings from investigators, the blast was caused by the ignition of a natural gas device. While the explosion caused a significant disturbance for nearby residents, the Olive Branch Fire Department stated there is currently no ongoing threat to the public.

The cause of the ignition remains under active investigation by fire officials.
