When an expert is needed in floral design, Paula Howard answers the call.

DeSoto Civic Garden Club held a Floral Design Workshop for members at its March meeting held at the M.R. Davis Public Library in Southaven. The workshop was led by Paula Howard, an award winning designer and Flower Show Judge.

Paula instructed members on the core principles of design: balance, contrast, dominance, proportion, rhythm and scale. These principles will be applied to designs that will be displayed at a NGC Small Standard Flower Show, presented by DeSoto Civic Garden Club in celebration of the club’s 20th anniversary.

Designs, Horticulture and Educational exhibits will be displayed at Longview Point Baptist Church, 1100 McIngvale Rd in Hernando on April 23 from 1-4 p.m. and is open to the public free of charge.

The DeSoto Civic Garden Club is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc. and The Garden Clubs of Mississippi Inc., Hills and Delta District.
