Democratic Town Hall set for Saturday

DeSoto County Democrats will have an opportunity to hear from First District Congressional candidate Dianne Dodson Black Saturday afternoon in a town hall setting at the Horn Lake City Hall.

The program, from 3-5 p.m., will also give two candidates for DeSoto County School District Board of Education, April Wright (District 2) and James “Eric” Wright (District 1) the chance to meet voters. The school board election is a nonpartisan vote.

The Mississippi Federation of Democratic Women and the DeSoto County Democratic Party is hosting the Town Hall. Black won the Democratic primary in June and is running against incumbent Rep. Trent Kelly for Congress in November.

April Wright and James “Eric” Wright also have opposition in their race for the school board. April Wright is running against incumbent board member Michele Henley and James “Eric” Wright is running against Josh Sullivan. The District 1 seat is open with the decision by current board member Milton Nichols not to run for re-election. Both seats being contested are six-year terms.
