DCS schools enter break with new cases, quarantines

A total of 40 DeSoto County Schools students entered the Christmas break having been tested positive for coronavirus, according to the latest report on cases and quarantines from the District Central Services offices. 

Ninety students were new quarantines for the week that ended Friday, Dec. 17. The weekly update from the school district is typically done on Monday, but was moved up to Friday this week due to the Christmas break starting at the end of the school day.  

Of the 40 new cases, six came from Southaven Middle School. Five were reported at DeSoto Central High School and four new cases each came from Center Hill Middle and Oak Grove Central Elementary schools. 

Among new quarantines, there were 20 at Center Hill Middle School, 17 at Southaven Middle and 12 at Horn Lake Middle School.
