DCS COVID-19 new cases drop below 100 last week

New COVID-19 cases among DeSoto County School District (DCS) students continued a steady fall in the past week, according to Monday’s update from the school district.

DCS reports a total of 71 new cases at its attendance centers during the past week. That is compared to 178 the week before and 448 two weeks before.  

Quarantines dropped to just 16 among district students last week through Friday, compared to 100 the previous week and 339 two weeks ago.  

The schools reporting the most number of new cases last week were at Lewisburg Intermediate, Southaven High and Southaven Middle schools with six each. There were five new cases reported from DeSoto Central High School and Olive Branch High School, and four new cases came from Center Hill High, Center Hill Elementary, and Horn Lake High School.  

DeSoto Central Elementary had the most new quarantines with four and there were three each at Horn Lake Intermediate and at Greenbrook Elementary School.  

Seven staff members in the district reported a new positive COVID-19 test during the past week.
