City of Southaven announces garbage/recycling changes
The City of Southaven Thursday announced some changes are coming in terms of garbage and recycling services with the upcoming move to WastePro as the collection service.
WastePro is taking over for Waste Connections, which had been servicing Southaven customers.
With the new provider, some collection dates may change if your garbage collection was on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Check the map included in this article or call the city’s Public Works Department for answers to any questions about garbage pickup dates.
Starting May 1, WastePro will begin garbage pickup in the city. Waste Connections’ final day will be on April 30.
Waste Connections will be picking up their recycling carts during the last collection day of their service before April 30. Sanitation carts are not being replaced, however.
Residents who request recycling service will need to call and request service during the week of May 6. The first recycling pickup for WastePro will start the week of May 13.
Monthly fees for trash collection and recycling under the new service will be $20 for first trash cart, $11.35 for each additional trash cart, and $12.61 for a recycling cart.
