Byhalia brings area’s first babies of the New Year
Area hospitals brought new bundles of joy into the world over the New Year holiday, and the first babies both came from Byhalia parents.
The first newborn for 2024 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven was born on Monday, Jan. 1 at 8:01 p.m. Baby boy Angel Ginez Ramos was born to Graciela Ramos and Euerardo Ginez of Senatobia. He was 5-pounds, 6-ounces and was 19-inches long.

As of Thursday afternoon, Jan. 4 no New Year newborns had been born at Methodist-Olive Branch Hospital. Hospital officials, however, announced a first baby of the New Year at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital who arrived Monday morning, Jan. 1 at 6:54 a.m.
Baby girl Marlie Brooks, is 19 inches and weighs 6-pounds, 8 ounces. Marlie’s parents are Brittany and Matt Brooks and Marlie joins big sister Sadie-Grace, 6 years old, and big brother Luke, 18 months old. The family is from Byhalia.
