Update: Body found on I-55, arrest made
A body was found alongside I-55 in DeSoto County Saturday morning, Oct. 28 and officials on Monday, Oct. 31 released more information on the case.
The body of a young Hispanic man was found alongside the roadway’s southbound lane about 11:30 Saturday morning and DeSoto County deputies were sent to the scene to investigate. The southbound lanes of I-55 were closed south of Slocum Road while officials conducted their investigation.
On Tuesday, Oct. 31, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department released the following update to the case:
“DCSD Detective Beemon was contacted by the Memphis Police Department regarding the deceased male and spoke with investigators from the missing persons unit at MPD locating a possible lead. He received a report from MPD with similar identifying features of a missing person and was able to contact family members. Detective Beemon and DCSD Crime Scene Technician Edlin met with the family at which time they confirmed the deceased individual was their family member. A further investigation by DCSD Detectives revealed that the individual was murdered in Frayser, TN. Detective Beemon worked with MPD Homicide Division in gathering further evidence.”
Media reports earlier in the day identified the victim as Magdiel Robleto and the man charged with murder in the case by Memphis police is Olman Raudales.
