Arrest made after accusations of confinement and assault
A man accused of unlawful confinement and aggravated assault is being held after his arrest by Southaven police.
Police reported Monday morning of the arrest of Brian Damron at a residence on Dela Drive about 10:30 a.m. A victim told officers of Damron tying up the victim and assaulting the victim for the previous two days. The unidentified woman was able to escape after Damron passed out from alcohol and medication.
Police said the woman had numerous injuries and was transported for medical treatment.
On arrival at Damron’s home with the police department’s negotiations team and SWAT team, officers initially had what they termed “negative contact” with the suspect and the SWAT team then went in to take him into custody.
Police said Damron has a criminal history of numerous violent offenses from other states to include unlawful imprisonment, second-degree under extreme emotional disturbances, wanton endangerment and third-degree burglary.
During the apprehension, police put out an alert for people in the area of the increased police presence.
