Active Shooter Workshop to be offered

In light of our rapidly growing population and the importance of community and business safety, the Southaven Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Southaven Police Department,  the Hernando Main Street Chamber, Horn Lake Chamber, Olive Branch Chamber, and the DeSoto County Economic Development Council, has announced an Active Shooter Workshop is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, starting at 8 a.m.

The workshop will be held at the Landers Center, 4560 Venture Dr., Southaven. The event aims to equip DeSoto County business professionals and individuals with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively to an active shooter situation.

“We believe that proactive education and preparedness are key components in enhancing community safety,” stated Southaven Police Chief Brent Vickers. “By partnering with local organizations and community leaders, we are committed to empowering residents with the necessary tools to protect themselves and others during a crisis.”

The Active Shooter Workshop will cover a range of topics, including:

  • Identifying potential threats and suspicious behavior
  • Developing an emergency action plan
  • Implementing effective communication strategies
  • Understanding law enforcement response procedures
