Members of Olive Branch’s Citizens Police Academy Class 33 met with officers April 23 to learn patrol procedures and take part in mock traffic stops, the Olive Branch Police Department said.

Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto will host a free baby fair Saturday, May 2, offering car seat safety, pregnancy tips, infant CPR information and breastfeeding support, the hospital said.

The Southaven Chamber of Commerce said it will hold a Star Wars‑themed Par Wars: Golf & Games Tournament at Olive Branch Country Club, combining golf, pickleball and networking.

Organizers said Student Appreciation Day will be held tomorrow with a cookout, lawn games and an outdoor picnic. Students were invited to bring friends and come hungry.

The tornado watch issued for the area has been canceled, and the community safe room has closed after remaining open during the alert.

A tornado watch was issued Tuesday evening and will remain in effect until 10 p.m. CDT, and a community safe room at 7312 Highway 51 has been opened to residents, local officials said.
