The Olive Branch Country Club said the pickleball portion of its Par Wars event has been canceled, but the golf component will go on Monday. Organizers encouraged attendees to wear costumes and use the event for networking.

The Southaven Chamber of Commerce announced a Star Wars-themed “Par Wars: Golf & Games Tournament” at Olive Branch Country Club, presented by Walk-On’s Southaven. Proceeds will benefit the Southaven Chamber Foundation, the chamber said.

City of Southaven officials said new amenities at Cherry Valley Park — including a bike track, skate park and playground — are drawing children of all ages. Registration is open for fall 2026 youth football and cheerleading.

The Olive Branch Chamber of Commerce is encouraging residents to support local businesses during a Shop Small Weekly Challenge from May 3-9, the chamber said.

The Hernando Main Street Chamber of Commerce announced the addition of Marcus Black, founder of The Vitalize Co., to its membership. The chamber said Black, also known as M.BlackSpeaks, has returned to Hernando to invest in the community.

DeSoto Family Theatre said today is the final day to apply to be a summer camp counselor. The theater said applicants can apply online.

Mandy Bolen Herring returned to Northwest to finish a general studies degree and has earned all A’s while working full time and managing a busy household, the college said. She credited an advisor for helping her craft a manageable schedule.

Northwest Mississippi Community College said it held a luncheon yesterday to celebrate nursing graduates and named Jamie Petty the recipient of the Mississippi School of Nursing Scholarship. The college also said new members were inducted into the Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor Society.

Mayor Ken Adams’ May newsletter highlights an upcoming Children’s Fishing Rodeo and veteran recognition programs and directs residents to the city’s website to sign up for the e-newsletter, the city said.

The City of Olive Branch said public works crews repaired a water main break in the College Hills Subdivision on April 28, working through storms overnight to restore service. A resident brought pizza and drinks to the crew during repairs, the city said.
