Capital Murder Arrests Made After Shooting Death of Former Ole Miss, Southern Miss Football Player MJ Daniels

Three Arrested for Capital Murder in Hattiesburg Shooting

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – On Friday, June 14, 2024, the Hattiesburg Police Department arrested three individuals in connection with the deadly shooting of 21-year-old Marcus “MJ” Daniels, Jr., charging each with capital murder.

  • Orlando May, 18, of Hattiesburg, faces charges of one count of capital murder, one count of attempted armed carjacking, one count of felony eluding, and two counts of grand larceny auto.
  • Allen Marcus Gardner, 17, of Houston, Texas, is charged as an adult with one count of capital murder and one count of attempted armed carjacking.
  • Samir Green, 16, of Hattiesburg, is also charged as an adult with one count of capital murder and one count of attempted armed carjacking.

All three suspects have been booked into the Forrest County Jail.
