Southaven fire chief to retire June 30 after 34 years with department
Fire Chief Danny Scallions will retire June 30 after 34 years with the Southaven Fire Department and 36 years in the fire service, city officials said.
Scallions began serving the city in 1992 and was promoted through the department’s ranks before being named chief on Jan. 19, 2018, the city said.
In a statement, city officials described Scallions as one of the most respected and effective leaders in Southaven’s history, citing his work ethic, attention to detail and a leadership style they called humble and solution-focused.
The city thanked Scallions for his service and said he consistently brought problems to officials with effective solutions. The statement said city leaders and department members will miss him and wished him well in retirement.
