Multiple children airlifted after school bus crash in North MS
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. — Three children were airlifted to hospitals following a school bus crash that injured 16 students and two adults Tuesday afternoon, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. as a Lowndes County School District bus traveled north on Highway 45. MHP said a car pulled out from Artesia Road in front of the bus.
The bus overturned, ejecting several children. Authorities said 22 students were aboard.
One injured student was airlifted directly from the scene to Birmingham, Alabama. Two other students were later flown from a Columbus hospital to Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson for further medical evaluation, according to MHP.
