Lake Cormorant state volleyball wins third straight volleyball title

Lake Cormorant looks for a three-peat in state volleyball today against Hancock at Mississippi College’s A.E. Wood Coliseum, The Lady Gators won the title two years ago in Class 5A and claim the title last year in the first year as a 6A school.

SET 1

Lake Cormorant serves first and has a 2-0 lead with Zamoria Nelson serving. Hancock ties it up. An exchange of sideouts makes it 3-3.

Sideout makes it 6-4 Hancock. Sofia Gonzalez ace to get within 7-6 Hancock. w

Woods serve goes long for 9-7 Hancock lead. Anger angle kill ties set at 10-10. Gonzalez kill gives LC a 12-11 lead. Woods follows with a kill for 13-11 LC lead. Gonzalez kill for a 15-13 lead.

Davis with a big kill for a 20-18 lead then serves an ace for a 24-19 lead. Hancock takes their first timeout.

Hancock sideout followed by another point. 24-21 Lake Cormorant lead and the Lady Gators call a timeout.

Gonzalez kill out of the timeout gives Lake Cormorant the set win 25-21.

SET 2

Gonzalez kill off a block gives Lake Cormorant the early 3-2 lead in the second set.

Payton Davis serves an ace for a 5-2 lead.

Hancock ties it up at 8-8 when a volley is not returned.

Ariana Woods ties it up at 12-12. LC Jania Rose serving. After a side out, another Woods kill gives LC a 14-13 lead. Dallas White drops on in for a 15-13 lead.
