DeSoto becomes a more connected community

Gov. Tate Reeves earlier announced that programs in Mississippi had been approved for what is a total of close to $71 million grant funding.

New customers are being added and the county is on track for fiber internet by the end of the year for nearly everyone.

The five new projects will provide service to 2,579 households and 44 businesses.

The allocation was made from the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) program established through the Infrastructure and Jobs Act.

ISPs identified for future connections in underserved parts of the county.
