Basketball teams in jamboree action

Basketball jamborees open winter sports season in DeSoto County.

Honorees include one state champion from DeSoto Central.

Olive Branch freshman quarterback Thomas Heffner scored a pair of touchdowns in the victory.

All DeSoto County public libraries have special events planned during Halloween.

Lewisburg and Kaia Robinson led county swimmers at the state meet.

Of the 16,000 students now considered semifinalists, NMSP said about 15,000 of that number are expected to become finalists for the scholarships.

With the win, Horn Lake is now in with a bunch of teams at 1-1 in region play, all one game behind first-place Oxford.

Olive Branch, Hernando and Horn Lake boards to meet this week.
