Northwest outlasts Gulf Coast 16-13 for second straight MACCC football title

With the victory, Northwest (ranked fourth nationally) has likely secured a berth in the four-team NJCAA national playoffs.

The victory makes Northwest’s next game a “win-and-in” scenario for the MACCC playoffs.

The Rangers will travel to Goodman for their next contest against Holmes Community College on Oct. 23.

Northwest opens the 2025 season Aug. 28 at Pearl River, the team that handed the Rangers their lone conference loss last year.

This year’s schedule will include one key component not found in previous seasons, a conference-wide bye week, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 3.

This tryout is only for high school seniors who have not yet signed a National Letter of Intent.

Northwest sported a 7-3 record this season and a 5-1 mark in MACCC North Division play.

Summer is just around the corner, but anticipation for football season is already building.
