Two dead in three-vehicle I-22 crash near Olive Branch

The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues to investigate a Wednesday, Sept. 11 crash that killed two people from Holly Springs.  

The three-vehicle crash took place about 2:15 p.m. on I-22 in DeSoto County near the Red Banks exit. All three vehicles involved were traveling west on I-22 at the time of the crash. 

The drivers were Claude E. Gleeton, age 71 of Holly Springs, driving a 2006 Toyota Camry; Karen Ashabrenner, age 67 of Olive Branch, driving a 2022 Toyota 4Runner; and Jennifer Daniels, age 28 of Roanoke Rapid, North Carolina, driving a 2025 Freightliner. 

The Highway Patrol reports the Gleeton vehicle collided with Daniels Freightliner and then the Gleeton vehicle also crashed into the Ashabrenner vehicle. 

Gleeton and a passenger in his vehicle, identified as Denese Gleeton, age 71 of Holly Springs, both were killed and died at the scene.  Daniels and Ashabrenner were not injured in the collision.
