State Democrats tout successes in Biden administration

President Joe Biden gave his farewell address to a nationwide audience from the White House Wednesday night. In the address, Biden used his time to frame his legacy. He also described the incoming Donald Trump administration as the beginning of what he called an “emerging oligarchy.”

Mississippi Democrats used the address Wednesday night to paint the last four years as enjoying historic job growth and improved healthcare access. State Democratic officials said Mississippi has experienced significant advancements under the President’s leadership.

“President Biden’s dedication to the people of Mississippi has been extraordinary,” said state Democratic Party Chair Cheikh Taylor. “His policies have brought jobs, infrastructure investments, and lower healthcare costs to our state. As we look to the future, Mississippi Democrats remain committed to building on these accomplishments for our working families.”

In a news release, the state Democratic party listed the following key achievements in Mississippi:

Economic Growth: Mississippi has seen record investments in infrastructure and clean energy, with over 72,000 projects nationwide under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, including roads, bridges, and water systems that benefit Mississippians.

Job Creation: The state has contributed to the administration’s national success of 16.6 million new jobs, with the lowest unemployment rate in over 50 years.

Lower Healthcare Costs: Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, prescription drug prices for seniors have been capped at $35 per month. Mississippi residents have also benefited from record Affordable Care Act enrollment.

Investments in Clean Energy: The Biden administration’s climate and clean energy initiatives have created good-paying jobs while conserving natural resources.

Moving Forward: Mississippi Democrats said they are committed to continuing this progress, ensuring that all residents benefit from economic and healthcare improvements while standing against policies that prioritize corporate interests over working families.
