Scott Tollison, provost at Mississippi University for Women, will assume the role of interim president starting July 1.
The Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning’s Board of Trustees announced Tollison’s appointment in a news release Friday. Tollison is also the executive vice president of academic affairs at MUW.
Tollison said in a statement that he is excited for the opportunity to serve the university in the interim role.
Current MUW President Nora Miller announced in January that she plans to retire, effective June 30.
IHL held listening sessions on April 14 to get input about preferred characteristics of the next MUW president.
Tollison, a West Point native, has been provost at the W since 2019, a year after he served as the interim provost. Before that, he was dean of MUW’s College of Business and Professional Studies for about six years, according to the news release.
Tollison earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree in business information systems, as well as his doctorate, at Mississippi State University.
