Oktibbeha County Man Sentenced for Insurance Fraud
OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. – Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced Tuesday the sentencing of Michael Shea Millis, 43, of Oktibbeha County, for felony false pretense in connection with an insurance fraud scheme.
Millis, a former employee of State Farm Insurance Company, was accused of knowingly filing false insurance claims in an effort to defraud the company. Following an investigation and prosecution by the Attorney General’s Office, Oktibbeha County Circuit Court Judge James T. Kitchens Jr. sentenced Millis on Aug. 18.
Under the court’s ruling, Millis must pay $47,804.81 in restitution to State Farm Insurance Company, a $250 fine, and a $1,000 assessment to the Mississippi Crime Victim Compensation Fund. He was also sentenced to 10 years of probation.
Attorney General Fitch emphasized that her office remains dedicated to protecting Mississippi businesses and ensuring accountability for fraudulent activity.
“My office is committed to holding those who defraud Mississippi businesses accountable,” Fitch said. “Fraud is not a victimless crime, and I am thankful for the incredible team of investigators and prosecutors who worked to see that justice was served here.”
