Mississippi Players Claim Big Prizes in Historic Powerball Drawing

JACKSON, Miss. – While the record-setting $1.787 billion Powerball jackpot was struck in Missouri and Texas on Saturday, Sept. 6, Mississippi players had reason to celebrate with five big wins across the state.

Two tickets purchased in Brandon and Byram doubled their prizes to $100,000 each after selecting the $1 Power Play option, which multiplies non-jackpot winnings. Three other players claimed $50,000 prizes for matching four of the five white balls plus the red Powerball.

Winning tickets were sold at:

  • Double Quick #209 in Brandon ($100,000)
  • Brando’s Tobacco Store in Byram ($100,000)
  • Walmart Superstore #699 in Oxford ($50,000)
  • Midway Food Mart in Moss Point ($50,000)
  • Circle K #2707956 in Ocean Springs ($50,000)

The Saturday drawing marked the second-largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history, trailing only the $2.04 billion Powerball won in California in 2022.

Mississippi Lottery officials reminded players to check their tickets carefully and claim winnings promptly.
