Mississippi Lottery transfers nearly $13 million to State following historic Powerball run
JACKSON, Miss. – Fueled by soaring ticket sales from a historic Powerball jackpot, the Mississippi Lottery Corporation announced a September transfer of $12,960,810.82 to the state, with the funds designated for vital road and bridge projects.
The transfer was significantly boosted by the nationwide excitement surrounding the Powerball jackpot, which grew to become the second-largest in U.S. history at $1.787 billion. The frenzy drove lottery sales across Mississippi, resulting in another strong month of revenue for the state.
With this latest contribution, the Mississippi Lottery’s total transfers for the 2026 Fiscal Year have climbed to $32,101,249.27. Since its inception, the lottery has generated a total of $723,885,018.81 for the state.
