Memorial Day weekend accidents take four victims
Tunica County crash takes life of Sarah, Mississippi man
A man from Sarah, Mississippi is one of four fatalities on state highways over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, or MHP.
According to the weekend report released Tuesday morning, Jhajuan M. Milan, age 37 of Sarah, died when his vehicle was traveling east in Tunica County on state Highway 4 shortly after 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 26. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a culvert.
MHP reports Milan received fatal injuries from the crash and was declared dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
Three other fatal crashes took place over the weekend in Benton, Itawamba, and Harrison counties.
During the holiday weekend, troopers were involved in investigating 135 crashes, including seven crashes involving alcohol. That is compared to last year, when there were three traffic accident victims and 156 crashes, seven of which involved alcohol.
