McRae Opens Enrollment for Mississippi’s Prepaid College Tuition Program

JACKSON, Miss. – Mississippi families can now enroll in the state’s prepaid college tuition program for the 2025-26 academic year, State Treasurer David McRae announced Monday.

Enrollment in the Mississippi Prepaid Affordable College Tuition (MPACT) program is open through May 31, 2026. The initiative allows families to lock in today’s tuition rates, protecting against future increases while helping students prepare for higher education.

“With college costs climbing every year, MPACT gives Mississippi families the chance to plan ahead, lock in today’s tuition rates, and shield themselves from decades of rising prices,” McRae said. “This is about financial responsibility, helping parents invest wisely now so their children can pursue higher education without being buried in debt.”

The MPACT program offers options for both four-year university and community college tuition. Rates vary depending on a child’s age and the family’s chosen payment structure. Additional details are available at treasury.ms.gov/mpact.

Since taking office in 2020, McRae has emphasized strengthening the program’s financial health. The MPACT Legacy Plan, once only 72 percent funded, is now fully funded, while the Horizon Plan stands at 135 percent funded.

McRae said the program provides a fiscally conservative tool for Mississippi parents as the state’s economy grows and more jobs require education beyond high school.
