Hill announces campaign initiative – the FaM Plan
Bethany Hill, Democratic candidate for Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce, has announced her plan to help battle food insecurity in Mississippi.
Food insecurity includes such key issues as food deserts, affordability, accessibility, quality, and shortages. Creating working solutions to address these challenges to not only mitigate food insecurity but also support Mississippi’s economy and workforce development in the process.
“Mississippi is last in the country in food security and second to last in regards to health outcomes,” Hill said. “That is not acceptable on any level. With the FaM Plan, I am proposing an integrative, solutions-based plan that I call “Food As Medicine” – the FaM Plan. The FaM Plan means healthy food as health care prescriptions to help more Mississippians thrive. This is already proven in several states. Mississippians deserves a fighting chance to secure their future.”
Hill is one of three Democrats on the Aug. 8 primary election ballot for Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce. The others are Terry Rogers II and Robert Bradford. Current Commissioner Andy Gipson is running unopposed on the Republican ballot and will face the Democratic winner in the November general election.
