Desoto County NewsMeet the Candidates

Republican mayors endorse Stevenson candidacy

On the heels of endorsements from two Republican state lawmakers, the candidacy of Jon Stevenson has received backing from DeSoto County’s three Republican mayors.

Stevenson is challenging incumbent state Sen. Michael McLendon (R-Hernando) in the Aug. 5 Republican primary. The winner faces Democrat Chris Hannah in the Nov. 4 general election.

Mayors Darren Musselwhite (Southaven), Ken Adams (Olive Branch), and Chip Johnson (Hernando) are endorsing Stevenson’s candidacy. The endorsements add to previous announced support from state Reps. Rodney Hall (R-Southaven) and Jeff Hale (R-Nesbit)

“I am deeply honored by the support shown for our campaign by the elected officials of District 1,” said Jon Stevenson. “I promise to serve the people of District 1 with the same sense of integrity and dedication as these conservative leaders. Together, we will bring real, tangible results back to Tate and DeSoto counties.”
