State swimming meet set for this weekend
The Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) state swim meet will take place this weekend at the Tupelo Aquatic Center in Tupelo. The Class 2 (Class 5A-6A) portion of the state meet will be held on Friday, Oct. 22, followed by the Class 1 state meet on Saturday, Oct. 23.
Prelims will begin Friday morning at 8:50 a.m. and the finals will start at 3:15-4 p.m. Spectators may begin to enter at 7 a.m. and must pre-pay their $12 admission on the GoFan website.
Spectators will be given a wristband to be worn at all times. If they are coming back for the finals’ session, they must present the wristband to regain entry into the natatorium. If lost, you will need to repay $12.
Swimmers qualified for the state by their placing in last weekend’ North Half meet at Delta State University. The top six in each event advanced along with the top six from the South Half. They were followed by the next four fastest finishers between both halves to determine the 16 competitors in the event.
The qualifiers for the Class 2 state meet and their seed times/scores are listed on the Mississippi High School Activitites Association website.
