Northwest CC Sports Information news release
May 27, 2025 – New Northwest men’s basketball coach John Redman did not have to look far to find his assistant coach, as Southaven native Aaron McIntyre has officially joined the program, the college announced on Tuesday.
“I am thrilled to join Coach Redman’s staff and contribute to a program known for its commitment to excellence, discipline and player development,” McIntyre said. “I look forward to supporting the team’s success both on and off the court, and to working alongside a passionate and dedicated coach.”
McIntyre comes to the Rangers after a one-year stint at Copiah-Lincoln, where he coached under David Sanders, a Northwest men’s basketball alumnus. Prior to his stint at Co-Lin, McIntyre joined the staff of the Memphis Hustle, the G-League affiliate of the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies, where he served as film coordinator. He also contributed to the operations staff of the Grizzlies in that role until the end of the 2024 regular season.
During that time, McIntyre also joined DeSoto Christian Academy as the assistant coach for the varsity and junior varsity boys’ basketball programs. While there, helped lead the varsity boys’ team to a second-place finish in the district championship in his first year.
McIntyre also holds experience in the AAU circuit with Jones Elite. After graduating from DeSoto Central High School in 2015, he began serving as an assistant for the program, later becoming the head coach for various age groups throughout the organization, ultimately becoming the co-director of Jones Elite.
“I could not be more excited about adding Coach McIntyre to my first coaching staff at Northwest,” Redman said. “He is well-liked, respected and connected in the north Mississippi basketball community. His time spent with coaching the Jones Elite AAU program will greatly help with in-state recruiting, and his MACCC coaching experience will further help us down the road.”
McIntyre graduated from the University of Memphis in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Sport Management from Delta State University.
