Ranger softball’s Polk earns All-NJCAA Region 23 recognition
To the surprise of no one, Northwest infielder McKaylee “K.K.” Polk earned All-NJCAA Region 23 recognition on Monday, marking the second consecutive season that she has received the honor.
Polk, who was named MACCC Softball Player of the Year accolades last month, led Northwest and the conference in nearly every offensive category this season. The University of Memphis signee batted .554 this season with 24 home runs, a 1.339 slugging percentage, a .647 on-base percentage and 27 walks, all of which became new single-season program records.
A Senatobia native, Polk also finished second in a single season for doubles (19) and runs batted in (60). She finished third in base hits (70) and runs scored (55), while earning MACCC Player of the Week honors four times during the span of her career, including three accolades this season.
Polk leaves Northwest with a .461 batting average, marking a new career record. She also holds career records in home runs (42), runs batted in (123), total bases (305), walks (45), slugging percentage (1.034) and on-base percentage (.540).
Northwest finished the 2023 season with a 32-11 overall record, marking back-to-back 30-win seasons for the first time in program history.
