Olive Branch’s Mark Guy to be inducted into UT Martin Athletics Hall of Fame

Aug. 13, 2025 – Former UT Martin football standout Mark Guy of Olive Branch will be among four new members inducted into the University of Tennessee at Martin Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, Sept. 13.

The 1980s Skyhawk star will be honored alongside rifle champion Dacotah Faught, soccer standout Katie Jackson, and defensive force Ray Williams during an 11 a.m. ceremony in the Russell Duncan Ballroom at the Boling University Center. The celebration coincides with UT Martin’s annual Hall of Fame Game at 6 p.m., when the Skyhawks host Southern Illinois at Hardy Graham Stadium.

Guy made his mark at UT Martin as a versatile and dynamic athlete, excelling in multiple roles from wide receiver to cornerback to kickoff return specialist. Playing from 1983–84 and 1987–88, he was instrumental in leading the Skyhawks to an 11-2 record, a Gulf South Conference championship, and a Division II quarterfinals appearance in 1988.

His freshman season saw him finish as runner-up for Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year, but it was his senior campaign that cemented his legacy. Over his career, Guy recorded 117 tackles (65 assists, 51 solo), 11 pass breakups, four blocked kicks, three fumble recoveries, and one interception. After college, he went on to play for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League.

“Mark Guy wasn’t just a player – he was a game-changer,” said UT Martin officials in announcing the honor. “His ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball and on special teams made him one of the most complete players in program history.”

The other inductees bring their own impressive resumes. Faught is a decorated rifle athlete who represented Team USA, Jackson is among UT Martin’s all-time leaders in goals and points in soccer, and Williams was a defensive powerhouse who later became a world-record-setting powerlifter.
