Northwest announces 2023 volleyball schedule


Less than two months remain until the official start of the 2023 Northwest volleyball season, and nine home matches highlight this year’s slate.

After earning the program’s first Region 23 Play-In title last season, the Lady Rangers will face a wider array of opponents this season, including the addition of Northeast to the fold of MACCC volleyball clubs.  and the Lady Tigers will face each other twice this year, beginning on Wednesday, September 6 at 2 p.m. in Senatobia.

Northwest will open the home portion of its schedule on Wednesday, Aug. 23 for a tri-match slate against Champion Christian College and Rust College. The Lady Rangers will face Champion Christian at 3 p.m. that afternoon, before closing out the day with their matchup against Rust at 7 p.m.

Other home matches include Pensacola State College on the same day as Northeast, with first serve scheduled for 4 p.m. The Lady Rangers also have MUW JV on the schedule for the day before, with that match slated for a 5 p.m. start.

Rival Itawamba makes a trip to the Five Star City on Friday, Sept. 22 at 5 p.m., while Region 23 runner-up Pearl River heads to town on Monday, October 2 for a 5 p.m. showdown. Northwest will then host Henderson State JV on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m., before closing out the home schedule with Sophomore Night against Freed-Hardeman JV on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m.

As expected, the Lady Rangers will also have a lengthy road schedule, competing against a wider array of opponents this season. Northwest will kick things off on the weekend of Aug. 17-18 at the Pensacola State Tournament, hosted by Pensacola State College, before traveling to Chattanooga State for a tournament on Aug. 25-26.

Northwest is also scheduled to partake in tournaments at Wallace State-Hanceville (Sept. 8-9; Hanceville, Ala.) and Blinn College (Sept. 14-16; Brenham, Texas), along with several tri-matches and road trips peppered throughout the remainder of the schedule.
