A member of the Northpoint Christian School football Trojans who played several positions signed Tuesday, April 4, to play at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas.

Dana Williams was a three-year starter in his four years playing football at Northpoint, according to head coach Tyler Gold, who added that Williams played wherever he was asked to fill in.

“In his four years of playing, he played guard, tackle, center, middle linebacker, outside linebacker, kickoff team, long snapper, field goal team, defensive end, nose guard, and I think you were on kick return at some point in your sophomore year,” Gold said. “He played almost every position.”

This past fall season, Williams was moved to nose guard but still was slotted in at tackle and guard.

“Nose guard is not an exciting position if you don’t know football, so he was going to play guard, tackle, and nose guard,” said Gold. “He said, ‘coach, whatever makes the team better, I’ll do it.’ It’s the guys like Dana that make teams great and make teams special, and the guys that say, ‘I’ll do whatever is needed for the team.’ Dana, keep being that guy.”

Williams said he liked the smaller school atmosphere that Lyon College offers. He’s undecided at this time what his major is going to be.

Lyon College is coached by Chris Douglas and has been part of the American Midwest Conference since 2012.
