Nov. 15, 2024 – Following a successful 2024 season that yielded conference and NJCAA Region 23 championships, nine members of the Northwest women’s soccer team have earned All-MACCC accolades, the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference announced Friday morning.

Sophomore goalkeeper Anna Kathryn Harrell picked up first team all-conference honors for the second consecutive season, while sophomore defender Raegan Tucker and midfielder Emma Jensen rounded out first team selections. Sophomore defender Yaritza Trejo, sophomore midfielder Caroline Chandler and sophomore forward Mari Julia Delgado picked up second team accolades, while Honorable Mention recognition went to sophomore defender Allie Reed Greer, sophomore forward Penny Warner and freshman forward Caroline Hamm.

Additionally, the Northwest coaching staff picked up MACCC Women’s Soccer Coaching Staff of the Year for the third straight season. Led by coach James Beattie, the Lady Rangers’ coaching staff have guided the program to a pair of NJCAA Region 23 championships, at least a share of two conference titles and three consecutive appearances in the NJCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament.

In two seasons as the starting goalkeeper at Northwest, Harrell has racked up numerous awards and accolades from the conference, NJCAA and United Soccer Coaches organization. An NJCAA All-American following her freshman campaign, the Tupelo native has amassed 123 career saves against just 14 goals allowed, ranking fifth in the program’s career saves category. Harrell also holds career records for wins (34) and shutouts (26), and she also holds the top two single-season records for wins, recording 18 as a freshman and 16 this season.

Harrell has also been named MACCC Goalkeeper of the Week four times this season and 10 times over the span of her Northwest career. She has also earned a handful of NJCAA Goalkeeper of the Week honors.

Tasked with helping replace a veteran defense from last season, Tucker has stepped up to the challenge. The sophomore from Madison has been a pivotal part of a Northwest unit that has allowed just 12 goals all season, and an average of 0.67 goals allowed per match. Tucker and the Lady Rangers’ back line have also held opponents to an average of 6.4 shots per match and just a combined 116 total shots all season. (By comparison, Northwest has taken 483 total shots.)

Tucker has also provided three assists on the season, spread across matches against Hinds, Itawamba and Copiah-Lincoln.

Jensen has taken the conference by storm, tallying a team-leading 19 goals and 47 points on the season. The Gammelby, Germany native has already made her presence felt in the Northwest record books, currently sitting fourth in single-season points. Her 19 goals are also tied for fourth-most in a single season, along with Gena Gutierrez (2004) and Miranda “M.J.” Loeffel (2021), while her nine assists are tied for eighth-most in a single season, joining Ally Bailey (2021), Molly Rose (2021) and Mia Kate Cade (2023).

Additionally, Jensen has hit a team-leading seven game-winners this year and has converted all three of her penalty kick attempts.

After earning Honorable Mention All-MACCC accolades as a freshman, Trejo finished with second team all-conference honors this season. The Memphis, Tenn. product started in 16 of the Lady Rangers’ 18 matches this season, assisting Tucker in providing a solid defensive force for Northwest. Trejo also has a goal and an assist, with her lone score coming against Southwestern Illinois College and her assist coming in a victory against nationally-ranked St. Louis.

A first-time all-conference selection, Chandler has been a valuable asset to Northwest over the past two seasons. The Tupelo product has scored three goals and two assists in the midfield this year, with two of her goals coming in the season-opener against Mineral Area College and one against Northeast (Neb.). Chandler also finished with an assist in wins against Northeast (Neb.) and Southwestern Illinois College.

Despite battling through injuries this season, Delgado has still been a reliable force for the Lady Rangers’ attack. The Trinity, Ala. native has collected 24 points as a sophomore, tying her with Warner for third-most on the team. Delgado has scored seven goals, but leads Northwest with 10 assists, which are tied for sixth-most in a single season with Jennifer Enriquez (2022).

For her career, Delgado has 67 points, joining Gutierrez (2004-05) and Evie Crawford (2022-23) for the sixth-most in program history. Her 25 assists are second only to the career record of 30, set by Enriquez (2023-24), and her 21 goals are 11th all-time.

Hailing from Oxford, Greer has developed into an everyday starter for the Lady Rangers’ defense. She has played in 15 of the team’s 18 matches this season and has added three goals, all of which have been scored in conference matches.

Warner currently ranks third in scoring for Northwest, compiling 11 goals across 18 matches. The Pearland, Texas product is tied for seventh in the Lady Rangers’ goals scored category (23), joining Adrienne Whitson (2002-03), Loeffel (2020-21) and Enriquez (2021-22).

Additionally, Warner has scored three goals during the postseason, netting two in the NJCAA Region 23 Championship match against Holmes.

Hamm has also emerged as a primary scorer for Northwest in her freshman season, as the Saltillo native currently ranks second on the team with 12 goals and an assist, good for 25 total points. Hamm has had three matches with multiple goals scored.

Northwest will begin its NJCAA national tournament run on Sunday, November 17 against eighth-seed Scottsdale (Ariz.) and Tuesday, Nov. 19 against 12th-seed St. Charles (Mo.). Both matches are scheduled for 10 A.M. start times.
