Lewisburg pitcher/first baseman Talon Haley has become the first baseball player from the school to be named Mr. Baseball in Mississippi. The state high school association and Mississippi Association of Coaches made the announcement of Mr. Baseball and Miss Softball awards for each classification Tuesday.

Haley, a Vanderbilt commit, heads into the Patriots’ first-round MHSAA 7A series with Tupelo this week hitting .400 with an on-base percentage of .544. He has hit three home runs and has stolen 23 bases.

On the mound, Talon has a 0.55 earned run average, started seven games and has a 5-1 record.  He has walked 12 and struck out 81 opposing hitters.

Here is the complete list of all of the Mr. Baseball and Miss Softball selections announced on Monday. They will be recognized at a special event on April 30 and again during their respective state tournaments.
