Lauren Bennett named HBCUAC Newcomer of the Week

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. — Rust College standout Lauren Bennett has been named the HBCU Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week for the period of Feb. 9–15, conference officials announced.
Bennett secured the weekly honor following a commanding performance in the Lady Bearcats’ recent matchup against Stillman College. The newcomer dominated the floor, racking up 30 points and 16 rebounds while adding three steals and two blocks to her stat line.
This recognition represents Bennett’s second weekly award of the season. It marks the second consecutive week that a member of the women’s basketball team has captured a conference weekly honor.
“Lauren has been consistent all season and continues to elevate her game when we need her most,” said head coach Eric Jackson Jr. “Her work ethic and ability to impact the game in multiple categories make her a special player in this league.”
