She has made an impact on the soccer pitch for Olive Branch High School, and in club soccer at Germantown, Tennessee and at Tupelo. Now Krossley Jones hopes to provide the same impact on the pitch for Mississippi State University.

That’s where Jones, an Olive Branch senior who is foregoing her final year of high school soccer to graduate early and start on her college career, has made a commitment to play next fall.

Jones, with family and friends, celebrated that decision this week.  She said her decision to play at Mississippi State came down to more than just soccer.

“All the times that I’ve been down there, just the team chemistry and like the spirit and the coaches, it’s just a true family there that you don’t see at a lot of colleges,” Jones said. “That’s the main thing that caused me to go there.”

Another reason to head for Starkville is the biomedical engineering degree she will be pursuing at State. “Hopefully somewhere after that, I can help make prosthetics,” Jones said. “That’s the goal.”

Jones expects to play on the wing, but there could be a chance of playing left to right back.

Playing three years at Olive Branch, Jones scored 40 goals for 94 points with the Lady Quistors. Last season, she found the back of the net 17 times and added six assists, her best offensive output.

In club soccer, Jones played for the Germantown Legends and also for the Tupelo FC. she is pleased with the journey soccer has taken her.

“From club soccer to high school soccer, everything and every person that I have played or sat on the bench with like they have helped me get to where I am,” Jones said. “It’s really crazy to just look back on on everybody that has affected me and gotten me to where I am now.”
