Johnson’s buzzer-beater beats the Legends
The Memphis Hustle (4-7) picked up a 110-109 victory over the Texas Legends (2-7) in Frisco following a game-winning buzzer-beater from David Johnson.
Johnson posted his first double-double of the season, finishing with 26 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Timmy Allen and Cameron McGriff each tallied 18 points. Adonis Arms added 13 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Mychal Mulder contributed 13 points.
Jordan Walker led the Legends with 27 points. Justin Jackson finished with 23 points. Southaven native Taze Moore contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds. Mike Miles Jr. added 16 points off the bench. Theo Pinson totaled 12 points and nine rebounds.
Memphis started the second half on a 23-11 run and led by as many as 15 points in the fourth quarter. Texas clawed back to take a one-point lead on a Walker jumper with 4.6 seconds left, but Johnson’s floater at the buzzer clinched the victory for the Hustle.
Texas, which trailed by as many as 11 early in the game, led by five at halftime.
Memphis outrebounded Texas 56-46, including 11 offensive rebounds. The Hustle bench outscored the Legends bench 45-34.
The Hustle and Legends travel to Southaven on Thursday, Dec. 7, to conclude the two-game Showcase Cup set.
