Johnson earns HBCUAC weekly honor

Rust College guard Patsy Johnson has been named the HBCU Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week after a dominant stretch from February 2–8.

Johnson powered the Bearcats to conference wins over Paul Quinn College and Voorhees University, totaling 58 points, 17 made free throws and 14 assists across the two‑game slate. Her pace, shot creation and ability to generate offense for teammates fueled Rust College’s attack throughout the week.

Head coach Jaleesa Sams said Johnson’s impact continues to elevate the program.

“Patsy continues to be a difference‑maker for our program,” Sams said. “Her ability to score, create for others, and lead with confidence is a big reason for our success.”

The award marks Johnson’s second weekly honor of the season as Rust College strengthens its position within the HBCUAC.
