Hustle’s Burton scores career high in win
DETROIT — Forward Tyler Burton delivered a career-high 40-point performance Sunday to lead the Memphis Hustle (3-12) to a 120-109 comeback victory over the Motor City Cruise (9-9) at Wayne State Fieldhouse.
Despite trailing by as many as 15 points in the second quarter, Memphis utilized a dominant fourth-period surge to secure the win. The Hustle outscored the Cruise 31-14 in the final frame, shooting 47.1% while holding Motor City to just 20% from the field.
Burton leads offensive explosion
Burton’s career night included 11-of-20 shooting from the field and 14 points from the free-throw line. He added eight rebounds and five assists in nearly 41 minutes of action.
Charlie Brown Jr. provided a significant secondary punch for Memphis, finishing with 33 points on 10-of-17 shooting. The Hustle finished the game with high efficiency, shooting 54.8% as a team compared to 46.2% for the Cruise.
Motor City struggles late
The Cruise appeared in control during the first half, leading 64-58 at the break behind Wendell Moore Jr., who finished with a team-high 20 points. Drew Peterson and Isaac Jones each contributed 17 points, but the team’s offense cratered in the closing minutes.
