Hustle Hang On to Defeat Magic in G League Clash
Kissimmee, Fla. – The Memphis Hustle (6-7) edged out the Osceola Magic (8-5) in a nail-biting 121-119 victory at Silver Spurs Arena on Sunday.
Charlie Brown Jr. powered the Hustle offense with 21 points, while Jordan Minor delivered 19 points and nine rebounds off the bench. Tyler Burton and GG Jackson II each added 18 points and six rebounds, and DeJon Jarreau contributed 17 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Lawson Lovering made his mark with a career-high 13 rebounds.
For the Magic, Lester Quiñones led all scorers with 28 points. Jalen Crutcher chipped in 20 points, Javonte Smart added 19 off the bench, while Reece Beekman posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Will Baker also recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Memphis built a commanding 22-point lead in the first half, closing the opening quarter on an 8-1 run. Osceola stormed back late, tying the game at 119 with just 10.8 seconds remaining. Jarreau was fouled on a decisive layup attempt with 3.7 seconds left and calmly sank both free throws to secure the Hustle’s win. Quiñones’ deep three-pointer at the buzzer bounced off the rim, sealing Memphis’ victory.
The Hustle dominated the glass, outrebounding Osceola 54-42 and converting 15 second-chance points. Memphis also held the Magic to 0-for-14 shooting from beyond the arc in the first half. Despite Osceola’s 31 points off turnovers and 10 second-half threes, the Hustle’s resilience proved decisive.
Memphis will wrap up the two-game set against Osceola on Tuesday, Dec. 16, again at Silver Spurs Arena.
