SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — The Memphis Hustle made quick work of the Texas Legends Tuesday night, riding a potent offensive performance to a 135-105 victory at the Landers Center.
Colby Jones provided a major spark for the Hustle (6-21), scoring 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting, including five three-pointers. Memphis established control in the second quarter, outscoring Texas 31-15 to take a 15-point lead into halftime.
The Hustle’s lead eventually ballooned to as many as 30 points in the second half. The home team’s efficiency was the story of the night, as Memphis shot 53.6 percent from the floor and 53.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Seven different Hustle players reached double-digit scoring. Beyond Jones, Pierre Crockrell II added 20 points off the bench, while Orlando Robinson and DeJon Jarreau each chipped in 18 points.
Dalano Banton was a one-man wrecking crew for the Legends (6-19), finishing with a game-high 37 points. However, Banton’s efforts were not enough to overcome a Texas defense that allowed Memphis to score 72 points in the paint.
Mark Armstrong added 22 points for the Legends, and Jamarion Sharp contributed 18 points and 10 rebounds in the losing effort.
The Hustle dominated the fast-break battle, outscoring the Legends 33-15 in transition. Memphis also capitalized on Texas’ mistakes, turning 12 Legends turnovers into 23 points.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see the Hustle back in action. The team continues its home stand at the Landers Center this Thursday, March 5, at 7 p.m. against the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Thursday’s matchup will also feature a “Pilates in the Paint” theme night hosted by Well Pilates Studio.
Hustle land Orlando Robinson in three-team trade
The Memphis Hustle bolstered their front court Tuesday, acquiring forward/center Orlando Robinson in a three-team trade with the Rip City Remix and Cleveland Charge.
To land the 6-foot-10 Robinson, Memphis sent center Abou Ousmane to the Charge and traded the returning player rights of guard David Johnson, along with a 2026 second-round pick, to the Remix.
Robinson, 25, brings significant experience to North Mississippi, having appeared in 115 NBA games across four seasons. He arrives after a dominant stint with the Osceola Magic this year, where he averaged 17.1 points and 10.2 rebounds while shooting 52.3 percent from the field.
Ousmane departs after appearing in 37 games for the Hustle this season, averaging 6.8 points and 5.1 rebounds.
