Gonzalez, Cole bring Miss Volleyball honors to DeSoto County
CLINTON, Miss. — Two standout athletes from DeSoto County Schools are taking top honors as the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) and Mississippi Association of Coaches (MAC) announced the 2025 C Spire Miss Volleyball winners.
Lake Cormorant’s Sofia Gonzalez earned the Class 6A Miss Volleyball title for the third straight year, while Lewisburg’s Addison Cole claimed the Class 7A honor, giving DeSoto County a sweep of the state’s two highest classifications.
Gonzalez’s three-peat makes her one of the most decorated volleyball players in Mississippi high school history. The senior outside hitter has anchored Lake Cormorant’s dominance on the court, leading the Lady Gators to multiple playoff runs and earning statewide recognition for her athleticism and leadership.
Cole, meanwhile, captured the 7A award after leading Lewisburg to another strong season. The junior outside hitter has been a consistent force for the Lady Patriots, helping solidify the program’s reputation as one of the top in Mississippi’s largest classification.
The C Spire Miss Volleyball program honors one elite player from each classification for their exceptional performance, leadership, and impact on their team. All winners will be recognized during the MHSAA State Volleyball Championships on Oct. 16–17 at Mississippi College in Clinton, with an awards luncheon scheduled for Oct. 23 at the MHSAA Conference Center in Clinton.
Other 2025 winners include Bella Phifer (Ingomar, 1A), Kaylee Estes (Walnut, 2A), Myah Favre (Our Lady Academy, 3A), Allie Keller (New Albany, 4A), and Ava Whiteside (Pontotoc, 5A).
