Monday sports page: County players named to softball all-star teams

All-Star softball teams have been announced for the upcoming Mississippi Association of Coaches/Cornerstone Rehabilitation Junior All-Star and Rising Stars series set for Jones College in Ellisville and the North Junior squad for 5A/6A/7A players will have a definite DeSoto County appearance.

Of the 12 players named to the North roster, seven hail from DeSoto County schools, along with both coaches. Matthew Williams of Center Hill and Harley Bumpous of DeSoto Central will lead the team. Two Hernando players were also named to the North Rising Stars squad of underclassmen.

The games will be played May 29-30 at Jones College.
