2+2 Scholarship Golf Tournament set for Thursday, Sept. 19

Aug 13, 2024- Northwest Mississippi Community College and the University of Mississippi’s annual 2+2 Scholarship Golf Tournament is celebrating their 20 anniversary and is being held at Cherokee Valley Golf Club in Olive Branch located off of Crumpler Blvd on September 19, 2024.
The presenting sponsors of this year’s event, Northcentral Electric Cooperative and Cadence Bank are both invested supporters of the DeSoto Center and the educational missions of Northwest and Ole Miss in DeSoto County.
“We are excited to celebrate the 20th year of the 2+2 Scholarship Golf Tournament,” said Patti Gordon, the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement. “Over the last 20 years, $384,000 has been generated by this tournament. These funds are in addition to the initial $1 million that was raised for the 2+ 2 scholarship initiative that awards scholarships to students from DeSoto County who attend the Northwest and Ole Miss DeSoto Campus. There are many golfers that play every year and have come to look forward to this annual tournament. We are so appreciative of these long-time supporters. Their participation is certainly beneficial to help students continue their education and in turn, will eventually give back to the community.”
For 20 years, this scholarship has helped make college more accessible to a large volume of students. This fundraiser has been a fun way for the community to give back to the students that, on average, have stuck around DeSoto County after their graduation giving back to the community that poured into them.
